SEO backlinks
Review link gaps, live backlinks, new and lost links, top linked pages, and anchor text.
What this page is for
The Backlinks page shows sites linking to the firm, links that have appeared or disappeared, and relevant sites that link to competitors but not to the firm.
Prioritize relevance, editorial quality, and real authority. A larger backlink count is not automatically better.
Run the first scan or refresh
- Open Grow > SEO > Backlinks.
- Click Run first scan if no data exists.
- For an existing profile, click Refresh.
- Wait for the scan notice to finish.
- Review the snapshot before opening a detailed view.
Read the snapshot
| Metric | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Domain Rating | A relative authority indicator for the domain |
| Referring Domains | Unique domains with live links to the site |
| Total Backlinks | Live inbound links found in the current data |
| Link Gaps | Relevant competitor-linked domains not currently linking to the firm |
| Lost Links | Links or referring domains that disappeared in the comparison window |
These are third-party SEO indicators, not guarantees of ranking or traffic.
Use Link Gap
- Open Link Gap.
- Filter by the available types, such as education/government, directory, podcast, press, or other.
- Choose Gap vs to focus on one competitor.
- Review the referring domain, authority indicator, competitor destinations, and type.
- Click Pursue after deciding that the site is relevant.
- After outreach, click the status to mark it Contacted.
- When a legitimate link is live, mark it Won.
Use Export outreach list to download the currently filtered gap set.
Validate every prospect
Do not treat a high authority score as automatic approval. Review the site's relevance, reputation, editorial standards, audience, and outreach terms before contacting it.
Review Your Backlinks
The Your Backlinks view shows the strongest captured links, generally one per referring domain.
- Search by source domain, anchor text, or destination page.
- Filter to:
- All
- Dofollow
- Low spam
- Broken, when available
- Review the source, anchor, destination, authority indicator, relationship type, and first-seen date.
- Open the destination page when a link appears broken or unexpected.
For broken links, repair the destination or add an appropriate redirect after confirming the intended page.
Review New & Lost
Use New & Lost to see referring domains gained or dropped during the displayed window.
- Review new domains for quality and relevance.
- Check lost links that previously pointed to important pages.
- Confirm whether the source page changed, disappeared, or now links elsewhere.
- Reach out only when recovering the link is appropriate.
Normal web changes can cause links to appear or disappear. Investigate important cases instead of reacting to every change.
Review Top Pages
- Open Top Pages.
- Compare pages by linking domains and total backlinks.
- Click a page to expand its strongest known sources.
- Choose View all in Your Backlinks for the complete filtered list.
Use this view to understand which resources earn references and which important pages have little external support.
Review Anchors
Anchors shows the text other sites use when linking to the firm.
Review the distribution of:
- brand names
- descriptive topic phrases
- bare URLs
- empty or image anchors
- suspicious or irrelevant anchors
A spam flag is a reason to investigate. Do not disavow a link solely because of one automated label; use experienced SEO judgment and review the source.
Read Your backlink profile
The profile section includes referring-domain trend, total backlinks, spam score, broken links, and recent link activity. Use the trend to understand direction, then open the detailed lists to identify the actual domains involved.
If data is missing
- Run or refresh the scan.
- Confirm relevant competitors exist in Competitor Intel.
- Clear type and competitor filters.
- Wait for a scan to finish.
- A blank view may mean no applicable links were found in that category.
- Third-party link indexes do not discover every link immediately.
