OpenAI Ads dashboard
Connect OpenAI Ads delivery to Superpractice contacts, meetings, matters, retained clients, and revenue.
What this dashboard is for
The OpenAI Ads dashboard combines paid OpenAI advertising delivery with downstream Superpractice records.
Use it to answer:
- Are the ads delivering and what do clicks cost?
- Are paid visits becoming contacts, meetings, matters, and retained clients?
- Which campaigns and practice areas account for spend and value?
- Is the selected period producing an acceptable business result?
Paid and organic AI traffic are separate
This dashboard covers paid OpenAI advertising. Organic ChatGPT and other supported AI discovery activity appears in AI Visibility and other organic reporting.
Before you use the dashboard
- Connect the correct OpenAI Ads account under Settings > Integrations.
- Open Settings > OpenAI Ads.
- Enter the target Monthly budget when you want Mission Control to include OpenAI Ads in budget pacing.
- Map each campaign to Brand, the correct practice area, or the applicable sub-practice area.
- Click Save.
- Confirm the Superpractice tracking pixel is installed on the destination website.
- Keep contact attribution, meetings, matters, retained status, values, and dates accurate.
Campaign mapping controls practice-area spend reporting. Service and matter data control the downstream practice-area economics. Neither should be inferred from a campaign name alone.
Select the reporting period
- Open Grow > OpenAI Ads.
- Click the date control.
- Choose a preset or a custom range.
- Wait for the dashboard to reload.
- Use the same dates when comparing with the OpenAI advertising account or another Superpractice dashboard.
Most change indicators compare the selected period with the equivalent prior period. Higher spend or cost is not automatically favorable, while higher retained value generally is.
Read the Ads Brief
The Ads Brief provides a recent summary and a suggested action.
- Read the headline and supporting explanation.
- Check the cited campaign or metric in the dashboard.
- Click Regenerate brief when you need a fresh analysis.
The brief uses its labeled recent window, which can differ from the main dashboard date range.
Read the KPI cost ladder
| KPI | What it means |
|---|---|
| Ad Spend | Paid OpenAI advertising spend in the selected period |
| Avg Cost per Click | Spend divided by reported ad clicks |
| Cost per Contact | Spend divided by pixel-attributed Superpractice contacts |
| Client Acquisition Cost | Spend divided by retained clients |
| Revenue Retained | Realized first-matter revenue for retained outcomes attributed to paid OpenAI traffic |
A dash means the calculation does not have enough applicable data. For example, Client Acquisition Cost is unavailable when there are no retained clients.
Read the Ad delivery funnel
The funnel follows:
Impressions → Clicks → Contacts Created → Clients Retained
- Check whether impressions and clicks are moving together.
- Review click-through rate between impressions and clicks.
- Review the click-to-contact rate.
- Review retained clients after enough contacts have had time to progress.
- Compare each stage with the prior period.
OpenAI supplies ad delivery data. Contacts and retained clients are attributed Superpractice records, so tracking and CRM accuracy matter.
Review Spend & budget
This card shows spend by mapped practice area.
- Compare total spend with the selected-period budget context.
- Review the practice-area distribution.
- Check Budget pacing when it appears.
- Review:
- CPM — cost per 1,000 impressions
- Daily budget — combined daily caps for active campaigns
- Campaigns — active campaigns in the period
- Open OpenAI Ads settings if spend is unmapped or assigned to the wrong area.
Budget pacing compares spend with the available active-campaign budget context for the selected range. It is not a promise that the platform will spend the full amount.
Review Practice area performance
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Spend | Spend assigned through campaign mapping |
| Clients | Retained clients attributed to the practice area |
| CAC | Spend divided by retained clients |
| LTV | Expected retained-client value shown for the area |
| Revenue | Realized retained matter revenue |
| LTV ROAS | Expected lifetime value divided by spend |
Click a client count to open the retained matters behind it. Verify those records before making a budget decision.
An area can have spend without clients, or clients without matched spend. Superpractice shows a dash instead of inventing an allocation.
Review Clicks & spend
The daily chart plots reported clicks and spend across the selected range.
Use it to identify:
- a delivery stop
- an unusual spend spike
- a period where cost rose without comparable traffic
- a date that deserves campaign-level investigation
Short-lived changes can reflect pacing or reporting delays. Check the campaign table and source account before acting.
Use Campaign performance
The campaign table includes:
- spend
- impressions
- clicks
- click-through rate
- cost per click
- attributed contacts
- cost per contact
- meetings
- matters
- matter value
- retained clients
- revenue
- return on ad spend
- client acquisition cost
- lifetime-value return
Expand a campaign
- Click the expansion control beside a campaign.
- Review its ad groups.
- Expand an ad group when ad-level delivery rows are available.
- Use the hierarchy to locate where spend or delivery changed.
Downstream attribution is connected at campaign level. Ad-group and ad rows can show delivery without their own contact, meeting, matter, or retained-client drilldowns.
Open the underlying records
- Click a contact, meeting, matter, or client count when it is underlined or presented as a button.
- Review the records in the drilldown.
- Open the relevant contact or matter when more context is needed.
- Correct an inaccurate source record rather than trying to adjust the dashboard total.
Understand Unmapped OpenAI Attribution
This row represents paid OpenAI outcomes whose attribution could not be connected to a currently reported campaign row.
- Open the available drilldown counts.
- Check campaign attribution on the underlying records.
- Review campaign identifiers and mappings.
- Confirm historical or removed campaigns before treating the row as an error.
Ask a dashboard question
Enter a question or choose a suggested prompt such as:
- Which campaigns should I scale?
- Where is spend not turning into contacts?
- How does OpenAI Ads compare with Google Ads on CAC?
- Is the daily budget being spent efficiently?
The assistant opens with the selected date range. Verify important conclusions against the campaign table and underlying records.
